New Zealand Flag
A personification poem by Olivia.
Launching yourself from the athlete's hand.
Twirling side to side, while being held by our
New Zealand Olympic Superstar.
Rising up to the tallest pole, as my athlete receives
her gold medal.
Proud to be part of New Zealand.
Running Shoes
A personification poem by Natasha.
I'm staring at the white line,
zooming at the speed of light.
I'm cautiously taking each step with pride,
Cutting the track.
Sweat trickling down,
I'm nearing the end.
Leaping to a halt,
Proudly wearing gold.
Shot Put
A personification poem by Logan.
Launching myself from the thrower's hand,
soaring and swerving through the air.
Sinking slowly,
then thudding and splintering to the ground.
A Famous Light
A personification poem by Alice.
I'm a newly lit flame, on a famous torch.
Flickering madly with excitement,
I'm dancing to the beat of the cheering crowd,
Flying up to the sparkling stars.
Blazing like an everlasting bonfire,
Am I ready?
Yes, I'm ready, ready for the opening of the games.
Cycling
A personification poem by Adam.
You zoom out of the starting blocks like a heat missile,
Your wheels spin fast and steady as they smoke with lightening speed,
You're breaking world records thinking of GOLD! GOLD! GOLD! all the way.
Final lap approaches as you hear the last lap bell,
Approaching the finish and thinking my goal is broken,
Is this VICTORY! you smell.

WOW Room 3 I am really impressed with your wonderful personification poems, well done! It would be great to see some of them published and illustrated and put up in the Library Information Centre. Keep up the great work.
Mrs Mac
Room 3, fantastic use of personification. Your poems really brought the Olympics alive.
