ST JOHN visited to teach us about FIRST AID
The whole school enjoyed learning about different aspects of first aid.
Room 2 especially enjoyed practising to phone the 111 operator and giving information and receiving instructions.
In groups of three or four we had turns being the patient, the first aider and the 111 operator.
Taking instructions over the phone and following them correctly to put the 'unconscious patient' on their side [recovery position] was also a valuable lesson.
The fake blood and hand bandaging session was great also and learning how to think and speak clearly in an emergency was important.
Jacob, Rhiannon and Kelvin thoroughly enjoyed being volunteers and acting out specific parts, and Dylan sounded very confident and professional in his thanking Ms Hyland on behalf of everyone.
Thank you again to the St John Ambulance instructors who came to school.
